Written Records Requests
Nebraska Public Records Statutes, sections 84-712 through 84-712.09, apply to public records subject to exceptions. Send a specific written request to the likely custodian. Identify the court or agency, existing record sought, case or citation number if known, date range, preferred format, and a request for a fee estimate.
- Ask County Court for a County Court register entry or warrant order.
- Ask District Court for a district register entry or recall order.
- Ask the Sheriff for an existing process, return, jail, or policy record.
- Ask for the specific exemption if access is denied.
The Attorney General’s guidance describes an initial response within four business days, though production can take longer. A records request does not recall a warrant.
